I came across the Web Books Viewer, which can read EPUB and WEBZ formats offline. I understand that it doesn’t require traditional installation, but I’m unsure if this works seamlessly on both desktops and mobile devices. Specifically, I want to know if it’s possible to use the viewer offline on my Android device, and if I need the Chrome browser installed for that. Also, are there any limitations when using it offline, like functionality with annotations or bookmarks?

    Hey there!
I’ve used the Web Books Viewer quite a bit, and I can confirm that it works just fine on Android devices offline. I’ve been able to open my EPUB and WEBZ files without any issues, and it doesn’t require the Chrome browser, so that’s a plus if you’re not a fan of keeping everything on your phone. However, when you’re offline, some features like annotations and bookmarks might not sync with other devices, but as long as you’re using it on the same device, you should be okay. I’ve found it to be pretty smooth overall, and it’s nice not to need a traditional installation.
    Hope that helps!

I’ve been using Web Books Viewer for a while now on both desktop and mobile. To answer your question, it does work offline on Android without needing the Chrome browser installed, which is great. I’ve had no problems with accessing my EPUBs or WEBZ files offline. The only thing I’ve noticed is that some features like bookmarking and annotations aren’t as robust offline – they stay on the device, but you can’t really sync them across devices if you go offline. It’s not a dealbreaker for me, but just something to keep in mind. Still, for reading, it’s definitely a solid choice!

I’ve tried out the Web Books Viewer, and I can say that it works really well offline, even on Android! No need for Chrome, which is cool, as it’s pretty lightweight. I love that I don’t have to install anything, and the app’s great for keeping my library on the go. As for limitations, I’ve had some issues with annotations and bookmarks while offline—nothing major, but it’s worth noting. They seem to get stuck on the device you’re using, so syncing them later can be a pain if you switch to another device. Still, if you just need a simple offline reader, it’s definitely worth it!

    Hey!
Yeah, Web Books Viewer works offline on Android, but you do need Chrome since it relies on its engine. Offline reading is smooth, but features like annotations and bookmarks might be limited or not saved properly until you go back online. So for heavy note-taking, maybe try a dedicated app.
