8. Import vs. Download

"Import" is a type of download in a wider sense. However, the import used by the BSON Books Viewer differs from the traditional download, which transfers a file from a website to the local computer in its original form. The downloaded file appears in the file explorer. In contrast, the content of the imported file is saved in a local database known as "IndexedDB". The original BSON file is processed according to the structure of the database. Therefore, no single BSON file is present in the file explorer. In this manner, BSON books are automatically protected against unauthorized distribution. No digital rights management (DRM) is necessary to lock their contents. Users can open the BSON books right away without any password. As a matter of fact, even if a person can somehow obtain the original BSON file, it cannot be read unless distributed from our website.
