Classic Kaposi's Sarcoma

Treatment for single lesions may include the following:

Treatment for Kaposi's sarcoma that affects lymph nodes or the gastrointestinal tract usually includes chemotherapy with or without radiation therapy.


Immunosuppressive Treatment-related Kaposi's Sarcoma

  • Stopping or reducing immunosuppressive drug therapy.
  • Radiation therapy.
  • Chemotherapy using one or more anticancer drugs.

Epidemic Kaposi's Sarcoma

  • Surgery, including local excision or electrodesiccation (the drying of tissue by a high-frequency electric current applied with a needle-shaped electrode) and curettage [removal of tissue with a curette (a spoon-shaped instrument with a sharp edge)].
  • Cryosurgery.
  • Radiation therapy.
  • Chemotherapy using one or more anticancer drugs.
  • Biologic therapy.
