DNA cloning is a technique to reproduce identical DNA fragments while organism cloning (also called reproductive cloning) is to reproduce an organism with genetic materials identical to its "single" parent. During natural reproduction process, bacteria can clone themselves, but the offspring of higher organisms usually contains the mixture of genetic materials from both parents. Dolly, a sheep created by Ian Wilmut's group at the Roslin Institute in 1996, was the first cloned animal. She was created from a cell of another sheep (Dolly's single parent), rather than the combination of sperm and egg. Techniques: Creating a Cloned Sheep Named Dolly
