Tremor is defined as an involuntary, rhythmic oscillatory movement of a part or parts of the body. There are over 15 kinds of tremor. Essential tremor is the most common, about 10 to 20 times as prevalent as Parkinson's disease. It usually affects hands and head. Essential tremor may arise from abnormal function of the olivocerebellar circuit. The precise mechanism, however, is not clear. Associated genesETM1 (FET1) ETM2
Another gene mapped to chromosome 4p could also be involved (reference).
