Skin Cancer

 


There are three forms of skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma, melanoma and squamous cell carcinoma.  Basal cell carcinoma is the most common of all cancers, but melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer.

 

Prominent Genes in Skin Cancer

basal cell carcinoma: PTCH, p53

melanoma:  CDKN2A(p16), MC1R, MITF.

squamous cell carcinoma: H-Ras (reference), p53.
