The Organization of the Universe

The bulk universe may have 10 dimentions of space. It contains many branes, each with a smaller number of spatial dimensions. Our brane has three spatial dimensions. A braneworld is made up of particles that are confined within the brane. Our braneworld consists of millions of galaxies, each having millions of stars (like the Sun). The elementary particles (including photons) that constitute stars and planets cannot escape from our brane. Before the discovery of the string theory, our brane was thought to be the entire universe.

The bulk space (the space outside of any branes) may contain matter (bulk matter), or even intelligent life. The bulk matter is made up of particles (bulk particles) that are free to go anywhere. The intelligent life living in the bulk space could be the "God" who created our braneworld. Because the photons we use to see things are confined in our brane, we cannot see God living in the bulk space. In the future, we might be able to see God by gravitons (gravitational waves) which can go anywhere in the bulk universe (more info).
